Fire Inspections

The 2015 International Fire Code has been adopted only to the extent referenced in the International Building Code 2015 by Pennsylvania’s Uniform Construction Code. The PA UCC adopted some sections of the 2015 IFC; they can be referenced on the Department of Labor & Industry’s website.

PA UCC Fire Code Regulations:

  • Reviewing plans for Fire Code compliance must be performed by a Certified Building Plans Examiner.
  • Determine the degree of compliance needed, proper use group / type of construction classification, minimum requirements, adequacy of fire-protection systems.
  • Inspection construction or fire suppression/protection systems for Fire Code compliance must be performed by a Certified Building Inspector.
  • Determines that the construction complies with the approved plans, inspects for proper fire-stopping & draft-stopping, inspects components related to life safety and fire protection systems for code compliance.
